Can Brightspace (D2L) Detect AI?
Brightspace by D2L does not have a built-in AI detector. But like other learning platforms, it is usually connected to tools — Turnitin or Copyleaks — that do flag AI writing, and it quietly logs more than most students realize.
The short answer
Brightspace is a learning management system, not a detection tool. On its own it will not scan an assignment and return an "AI score." However, most institutions pair Brightspace with Turnitin or Copyleaks, and those integrations run an AI-writing check automatically when you submit to an assignment that has them enabled.
What Brightspace can and cannot see
